Entry Level Engineer

HB Trenchless is a specialty tunneling contractor built from generations of experience in the tunneling industry. Based out of Houston, TX with operations across the state. We are currently looking for Entry Level Civil Engineers to join our team to complete some of the most exciting work in the Houston area.

Our team of skilled employees, paired with an extensive inventory of equipment has allowed us to build a project portfolio that varies in size, scope and level of complexity.

The Position: The Entry Level Engineer will be given on the job training and will have an opportunity to grow within the company. Reports to the Project Engineer and or Project Manager and performs both technical engineering and administrative duties in planning and overseeing construction of the tunnel, shafts, and underground systems. Typical responsibilities require applying critical engineering and management thinking.

The position holds a wide variety of responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

  • Problem Solving with team
  • Review contract and specifications in its entirety
  • Assist Project Manager, Project Superintendent and Project Engineer as required
  • Assist with all schedule preparations and updates in P6
  • Assist with quantity reporting, project costs and forecasting
  • Obtain pricing from subcontractors and vendors to include charge orders
  • Requisition equipment and material deliveries as required
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to resolve project challenges and conflicts
  • Assist with monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing
  • Review daily reports for accuracy
  • Comply with notice requirements such as inspections, survey staking, joint measurements with owner and/or engineer, utility locations and adjustments, testing, claims, etc.
  • Issue correspondence to subcontractors and vendors when revised plan and/or specifications affects products or services
  • Assist with project closeout
  • Perform additional assignments per the Project Manager’s direction

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil, Construction, Geotechnical, Mechanical or Mining Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficient computer skills with AutoCAD experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities. Self-motivated, flexible, and responsive.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with the ability to develop positive working relationships in a cross functional team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills.
